Roundup of Money-Saving Holiday Ideas
Finding out last minute that you forgot something or having unexpected guests drop in is one way to break the budget. Usually, it’s the last minute things that make me spend impulsively and without the usual planning and scouring for value that I might exert. With that in mind, I thought I would provide a roundup of tips for saving during the holiday season. Some hints may help as reminders as these unexpected things (and people) crop up:
One thing to keep in mind is that seasonal items need not be more costly. They can be rather simple and reusable.
Rather than spending too much money on an item that someone may not really like, there are lots of alternatives, including donating things to charity and looking for experiences.
For those wanting to make homemade gifts, there are a range of ideas, including edible items and non-edible.
Reward miles, certificates, swagbucks and other cash-like items might provide useful last minute gifts or stocking stuffers. Be mindful of shipping deadlines that seem tighter this year than last.
When hosting guests, including the unexpected, take steps to simplify and to avoid being frazzled. Most of all, remember to enjoy yourself.

Stopping by from Life as MOM…
Indeed!! What I had to realize was that not everyone needed a gift. I didn’t need to feel compelled to purchase gifts for people I hadn’t even seen once during the year. It was very freeing once I “got” it!
Carrie, you got it!
