Tips for Spring

With Spring just around the corner, below are a collection of various tips from previous posts that seem applicable during this time.  Spring is often a time of renewal and refreshment, the days get longer and warmer. Try to take advantage of these:

Spring cleaningUnclutter: use the time to clear out things you really don’t need anymore. There are now numerous venues to sell or donate items to avoid crowding landfill.  I find it useful to do a closet cleaning regularly

--Try a new spring vegetable or fruit — do you like asparagus, fresh peas, or early spring berries. Try something that you haven’t had before and widen your palate. I enjoy the early season strawberries, sliced with a bit of balsamic vinegar (ice cream optional), which helps to deepen the taste.

Natural allergy remedies – instead of reaching for the medicine bottle, see if some natural remedies will help with the pollen and ragweed.  The neti pot seems like a favorite for many people.

Volunteer – now that the days are getting longer and longer, it’s time to step away from the computer and try new things. One great way to give back if you are short on cash is to volunteer.

Conserve water – with rainy season on its way, rain barrels may serve as a way to manage water.

I’d love to hear your favorite spring tips.
