Top Money Saving Tips of 2009
Since I started blogging in December of 2008, a number of posts have focused on money saving ideas, ways to cut expenses, and how to practice simple, frugal living in an enjoyable fun way. I have enjoyed the many comments of people sharing their ideas and look forward to continuing these habits next year, even as the economy improves. Here are some of my favorite money saving ideas, most of which seem to make my life less frazzled:
Planning ahead — I often buy things off season. For things like airplane tickets for trips, gifts, or household goods, buying during seasonal sales can add tremendously to savings.
Simplifying the holidays — I simplify holidays including Christmas, birthdays, and other special holidays. I enjoy holidays much more now that I don’t make a big fuss over lots of presents and activities. Now I look forward to quieter times with good company.
Turning off the TV — I admit that I used to be a television addict, with the TV always on. However, in the past couple of years, I’ve managed to kick the TV habit and really enjoy the free time it makes available.
Wasting Less — of all of the frugal habits that I’ve picked up, my favorite has to be wasting less, especially wasting less food. Aiming to create less waste and repurpose leftovers, I’ve learned to be much more creative in my cooking and planning. This has also helped me to eat more seasonally.
I’d love to hear your favorite money saving tip of the past year.

Great tips…now if only I could kick the computer! hehehhee!
Jes, hehe. Not having cable doesn’t bother me, but I think I would go crazy without the internet.
