What I’m Thankful For
I will be spending tomorrow trying to relax, preparing a dinner of some of our favorite foods, and reflecting back on an interesting year. In addition to the usual thanks that I have for friends and family, I will offer special thanks for the following:
–I am thankful that I work in a special place where I get to marvel at the efforts of so many great people to help those less fortunate. I am thankful that this work helps me to maintain a sense of humility and puts into perspective some of the minor complaints we all have day to day.
–I am thankful that I had the opportunity over the past year to engage with so many interesting people whether they were computer geeks, anthropologists, or tomato farmers.
–I am thankful that I started this blog which has led me on an interesting journey of learning about simpler, more sustainable living and allowed me to share my learnings with a great group of readers. I am thankful for the commenters, and still have some disbelief that anyone would stop by and read my blog.
–I am thankful that I have not had the health issues that several of my friends have, and that I have discovered exercise videos that seem to keep me amused long enough to complete a 20-minute circuit most days.
–I’m thankful that tomorrow we will be feasting on ham, collard greens, and black eyed peas. And we will have chocolate cake.
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
