Olive Oil as a Beauty Aid
My main cooking oil is olive oil. Not only is it supposed to be good for you, but it seems pretty versatil as well. Several people have told me that olive oil is not only part of their cooking routine, but part of their beauty routine as well. In the Mediterranean region, where olives proliferate, people have been using olive oil as moisturizer and beauty aid for years. Not only is it natural and free of wierd chemicals and scents, olive oil has vitamins A and E and many people swear by it. Here are some suggestions people have given me:
–Use olive oil on extremely dry skin, like cracked heels. After bathing or soaking feet in the evening, coat heels in olive oil. Put on clean socks overnight. Repeat as necessary until cracks start to disappear.
–Soak cuticles to soften them and encourage healthier nails.
–Some people use olive oil as a moisturizer either directly on skin including the face or added to a bath.
–If you have naturally curly hair (I don’t), olive oil is supposed to help as a detangler. Massage some oil into hair and scalp, let sit for 20 minutes, and shampoo as you normally would.
–Create a facial scrub with olive oil and sea salt to scrub away dead skin.
I would love to hear other suggestions for olive oil

I love it on my salads
I use vitamin E oil blend (with almond oil and other stuff) as my nightly face moisturizer. Love it and it smells so good.
I like cold pressed olive oil, too, but in my baking I use coconut oil. I use olive oil to make my own popcorn.
I love it in everything… But had never heard about the beauty aspects. thanks for that good tip!
Ashley, love the almond oil

Sharon, olive oil has been used for centuries in the Mediterranean, where the people are so beautiful!
